STATESBORO – This week for the Sweet Shop series, we will be comparing Daylight Donuts and Krispy Kreme. One is a well-known donut place around the world, and the other is a local business.

In Statesboro, Georgia, Daylight Donuts has been operating for 31 years, starting in July 1991. The National Daylight Donut Flour company was founded in 1954 and is locally owned, making the company 68 years old.

Krispy Kreme began in 1937 when Vernon Rudolph purchased a secret doughnut recipe from a New Orleans French pastry chef and opened the first Krispy Kreme store in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

The two donuts that I decided to compare were the strawberry glazed and regular glazed

donuts. Both places were really good. When it comes to freshness, Daylight was the best. The Krispy Kreme donut was pretty cold and needed to be warmed up.

The pricing for Daylight was very cheap: two donuts for about $4 and Krispy Kreme was $7 for three.

Overall, I really like both of them, but I would say Daylight Donuts is better because its donuts are fresher.
