Angela Byrd

STATESBORO-Angela Byrd Reed is a Georgia Southern University alumna who graduated in 2007 with a degree in communications and a broadcast emphasis.

Reed competed in various speaking competitions when she was younger and knew she had a natural gift for communication. She was recruited out of state for dance, but decided to take advantage of the HOPE Scholarship and stay in Georgia to attend GSU.

Reed said Georgia Southern provided her with hands-on experience that has been vital to her development as a communicator and media talent, and she uses those skills on a daily basis.

While at Georgia Southern, she was a reporter for Eagle News, a staff writer for The George-Anne, and an anchor for 91.9 The Buzz.

Reed said some of her fondest memories from her time at Georgia Southern were being crowned homecoming queen, reporting for Eagle News and Entertainment, serving on the Student Government Association, and shooting videos around Statesboro.

Reed has worked in television, film, public relations and education. She is currently a corporate facilitator and trainer at Chick-fil-A, a public speaker, a freelance media talent, and a writer.
